LOCAL ICE CREAM

Change

Having the 12,000 cheeses produced was a good first step, but we wanted to create more change in the industry by appealing to the leaders of the Dutch dairy industry. We launched a petition that asks Unilever to start making their iconic Magnum ice cream using Kleine Hoefprint approved local dairy.

The idea

To bring attention to our petition, and our love for everything local, we launched a music video series called Homegrown Sessions, which celebrates local bands from across Holland.

The volunteers of Friends of the Earth traveled with the petition to festivals all over the Netherlands. After people signed the petition for Unilever, they could vote for their favorite band. The band with the most votes became the name of the new forest-free ice cream.

Frozen Dutch was the first to create a fully local and organic strawberry cream ice. With proudly showing the winner “The Future’s Dust” on the label. The ice cream is sold by organic supermarkets like Ekoplaza, Marqt and several other ones.
